Welcome to the online home of BIG BEAR AKITAS. We have combined some of the best lines in the world to produce the dogs we have today. We strive to produce the same conformation as most show kennels, only we put emphasis on size. We strive to produce Akitas with good temperments, but true to the Akita. Our bloodlines are heavy on the Goshen type with the old Regalia and O'Bj lines as well. Our males average 27" and 120 lbs and our females average 25" and 95 lbs. Our foundation male "Kody" Big Bears The Mighty Kodiak is an awesome 29.5" at the withers and 155 lbs. We have a saying that we like to use when talking to new Akita owners and it is "Once you own an Akita, you will be owned by one forever." Akitas are great dogs and wonderful family dogs when raised properly. This being said, please do your research and make sure that an Akita will fit into your life for the next 10 to 15 years. If it does, then do more research and make sure you purchase one from someone you can trust and someone you can go back to for questions and concerns. You can contact us with the information below:
Please be mindful that we have small children that go to bed early, also I work a full time job that I have to be at very early in the mornings so please do not call our house after 9 pm central time. If you need to contact us after 9 pm, send an e-mail and we will respond back to you at our earliest convenience. Thank you for your cooperation.

Important Tips to Raising a Puppy
Please be responsible and never leave your small children unattended with any dog. Dogs are Dogs, and even though we trust them completely we have to remember that it only takes a matter of seconds for serious injury to occur. Please do not allow your puppy to growl and bite at you. Alot of people see this kind of behavior as CUTE. It is not cute, especially when the dog reaches adulthood and can do alot of damage. This is why most dogs end up in kill shelters or on the streets, and oftentimes euthanized because they have bitten a child or neighbor. I am not saying to abuse the dog, but raise the dog with a firm hand, don't allow him to get away with anything as a puppy that you wouldn't allow him to get away with as an adult. We use the submission method. When the pup acts out, we simply role the puppy onto it's back and hold it down until it stops fighting. Once it stops fighting, you have asserted dominance over the pup. You may have to do this several times during the first year. By allowing the puppy to get away with aggressive acts, you are creating a BULLY. Nobody likes a bully, especially one the size of an Akita.
