Welcome to the online home of BIG BEAR AKITAS. We have combined some of the best lines in the world to produce the dogs we have today. We strive to produce the same conformation as most show kennels, only we put emphasis on size. We strive to produce Akitas with good temperments, but true to the Akita. Our bloodlines are heavy on the Goshen type with the old Regalia and O'Bj lines as well. Our males average 27" and 120 lbs and our females average 25" and 95 lbs.
Our foundation male "Kody" Big Bears The Mighty Kodiak is an awesome 29.5" at the withers and 155 lbs.
We have a saying that we like to use when talking to new Akita owners and it is "Once you own an Akita, you will be owned by one forever." Akitas are great dogs and wonderful family dogs when raised properly. This being said, please do your research and make sure that an Akita will fit into your life for the next 10 to 15 years.
